Claudio’s does not qualify as a dive bar, but their outdoor deck/bar is a fun way to spend a summer afternoon.
Live music weekends.
The food never disappoints. It is no wonder Claudio’s is the longest operating, family owned bar/restaurant in America. Bonnie and I shared some tasty and spicy Bang-Bang shrimp and Filet-Mignon tidbits w/ creamy horseradish sauce.
Free-pour drinks and average beer selection are not […]
Without a stop at the Broken Down Valise in Mattituck, no road-trip to the North Fork is complete.
One of my favorite dive bars on Long Island features $3 PBR’s all day, all night. Serving the colorful locals and the occasional tourists on Tuesday afternoons is the joyful Michelle. Stop in on Wednesdays or Thursdays to talk to my compadre and deep-thinking friend, George.

Northport Tuesday Night Family Fun Nights are back ….
While the kids are out on the streets enjoying some hot rods and ice cream, join us for some adult fun and good times.

Bonnie and I embarked on a short road trip to visit them both […]
July is an exciting month — Scofflaws are the opening act on July 4th weekend with the venerable Hotline, starring one of LI’s best guitarist “Axman” Ed, closing out the weekend band activities on July 25th.
Due to my never ending confusion, Hotline is scheduled to rock the house this Friday June 20th — NOT Coyote as originally advertised.
Ed, Joe and the boys are the hardest rockin bands on Long Island.
NEVER a cover charge.
Kicking of the Summer with some great sounds.
Beat writer, author Jack Kerouac hung his hat many times at Gunther’s sipping cocktails and writing one of his many novels. Often times dubbed the founder of the “beat” generation, Jack paved the way for articulate misfits to muddle their way through life.
Drink was a big part of Jack’s life, and he chose to spend his drinking time a Gunther’s.
Kerouac lived in Northport off […]
